Improving Menstrual Hygiene, Education and Entrepreneurship in the African Girl Child

Most illnesses and diseases women have these days, in Africa most especially, are as a result of poor hygiene, lack of menstrual education and facilities and organisations to aid with the previously listed.

So let's talk about ways we can improve on that.

Firstly and most importantly, we as women need to take proper care of ourselves health wise ranging from the food we eat, the underwear we wear to the things we wear during our menstruation.

During our menstruation some of us wear tissue papers which can be very harmful because sometimes these tissue papers we use aren't treated and the particles from it can be stuck and cause infections. Some use towels which mostly are not sanitized or properly disinfected. the best and most appropriate thing to use during our menstruation is pads, but mind you not every pad is treated well so we have to be careful of the ones we use.

Another thing we should be mindful of is the duration  at which we wear these pads. Pads are not meant to be worn for more than eight hours. Why?, because if you do, it gives room for bacteria and fungi to breed and also because some of the chemicals used to make and treat these pads can be harmful if worn for a very long time.

Okay so to another aspect of this topic, I want to talk about those who don't have access to these pads because they are less privileged and uneducated. That's where organisations and the government come in, they can help go to the rural areas where most women don't have access to this information and also money to aid them in getting these pads.

The government really need to come out and make awareness and aid some organisations willing to go out and assist and educate those women who don't know and don't have much to aid themselves take proper care of their menstrual health.
